The Section Infectious Diseases (Institute of Health Sciences/Faculty of Earth and Life Sciences, VU) conducts research and teach in the field of epidemiology and control of parasitic (helminth) diseases and nutrition.

Applied epidemiological and fundamental lab research in different disciplines complement each other.

Collaborative projects and field research take place, among others, in Senegal, Cuba, DR Congo and Peru.

Main tasks in the project

The VU will contribute to WP2 (data and intervention mapping), especially on the issues of long-term health effects of micronutrient deficiency and the double burden of malnutrition and WP5 (summarizing of data and recommendation from WP2 – WP4).
